Celebrate the arrival of spring at the 2025 DDP Spring Festival: Design Theme Park, held from May 1 to May 31 at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP). This vibrant event transforms DDP into a dynamic playground filled with interactive installations, creative workshops, and family-friendly activities.
DDP Spring Festival 2025: Design Theme Park
The Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) Spring Festival will transform into a Design Theme Park for the month of May for grand celebrations of the Family Month. Families can come together at this vibrant festival to experince several exhibitions, performances, events, and so much more.
Starting May 1, until May 31, the city will welcome families, adults and children alike, to experince a world of wonder where imagination meets innovation. The event is hosted by the Seoul Design Foundation. The festival will present a diverse array of interactive programs catering to families, children, and youth. These programs will seamlessly integrate design, art, and media elements within dynamic indoor and outdoor settings.

Fantasy Castle: Giant Structures and Art at DDP
Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP), Seoul’s iconic landmark, transforms into a magical urban castle with vibrant art installations and engaging experiences. At the heart of this enchanting setup is the “Castle of Imagination,” featuring a spectacular 8-meter-tall inflatable hatch balloons. It will be welcoming visitors with a lively “Floating Parade” accompanied by spirited marching band performances.
Interactive Art Experiences at Oullim Square
Oullim Square is the festival’s creative core, inviting visitors to express themselves on the colorful “Imagination Drawing Wall,” developed in collaboration with French design brand OMY. Families and children can dive into creativity at interactive spaces like:
- Sangsang Grimter × Oh My – There’ll be a Giant Chalk Art Drawing Wall with Oh My and a DDP Outdoor Chalk Drawing where you can draw to your heart’s content on the floor.
- SookSook Workshop: Hands-on creative activities for all ages
- Playmobil Design Experience: Interactive play zones with the beloved toy brand along with vending machine and photo zones. There’s also a permanent design workshop on the theme of fantasy castle with Playmobil.
Star Wars Day and Family-Friendly Activities
DDP will proudly host “Star Wars Day 2025” on May 4, partnering with Walt Disney Company Korea. Fans can enjoy:
- ‘Star Wars Day’ Product Pop-up: There will be many pop ups with Star Wars themed products.
- Star Wars Parade: A parade in DDP area and Grass Hill with a Star Wars Character Parade of the 501st Legion
- Star Wars Music Night: Iconic soundtracks performed live
- Jedi Training: Exciting interactive experiences for aspiring Jedi

- Carrie TV Toy Library: Engaging spaces for young explorers with Children’s Design Experience & photo zone
- Podi Land (Podiframe): Kids can experience designing your own fractal structure with the infinitely expandable frame of Podi Land
- Wooden Playground: There will be table games made of eco-friendly wood

Music Concerts
From May 1 to 6, the park area at DDP becomes an open-air cultural venue, hosting diverse musical performances:
- Traditional Korean classical music by KBS Orchestra, KBS Gugak Orchestra
- Carrie and Friends Sing-A-Long Show
- Heart Heart Orchestra, a heartwarming performance by musicians with developmental disabilities
Visitors can also explore vibrant Design Markets and delicious offerings at the Food Streets, featuring sustainable treats like Pulmuone’s plant-based desserts.
Immersive Exhibitions Bridging Reality and Virtuality
From April 25 to July 31, the third-floor Design Showroom presents “Resonance of Reality and Virtuality,” an immersive multimedia exhibition by artist Yoon Je-ho. Blending AI, sound, light, and movement, visitors will journey through dynamic explorations bridging past and future, reality and imagination.Other captivating exhibitions include:
- Tom Sachs’ “Space Program”: Reimagining NASA’s iconic space adventures
- “The Aesthetics of Industrial Products”: Celebrating beauty in mass-produced designs
- “Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams”: A tribute to the legendary fashion house’s innovation and style
Educational Family Guided Tours
DDP offers special guided tours and workshops for families, designed to introduce children to architecture, design, and history. Choose from engaging themes:
- DDP Children’s Tour: Every Saturday (May 3–31), 11:00 (Time Expedition), 14:30 (Space Expedition)
- DDP Architecture Tour: Tuesday–Sunday, 10:30 (Korean), 13:30 (English), 15:30 (Korean)
